Noah's Ark

While Ryan was busy working all day Saturday on the LDS Prom (see post below), the kids and I headed off to the Skirball Center (Jewish Cultural Center in L.A.) to check out their new Noah's Ark exhibit. What an amazing place! It was so well-done and everything was beautiful and fun.


This is Maylan on one of the camels guarding the entrance and then the kids loading the animals onto the ark through the conveyor belt outside. This entertained them forever, they would just keep sending the animals up and in over and over again.


Like the conveyor belt, the pulley system inside the ark fascinated them for a long time, too. They would send food up and down over and over. Then they headed to the kitchen to cook up a meal for the animals. The last picture is an area where you could build the walls of the ark by sliding puzzle-type blocks into place.


Before entering the ark, there was a station where you could re-create the storm, complete with wind, rain, thunder and lightning. This is the wind machine. And then the kids beside one of their favorite animals. I should have taken more pictures of the animals. They were all made from recycled and familiar objects. It's hard to tell, but the zebra's legs are piano keys. There was an alligator made of old tires and a goat made of mops. It was all very creative.


Inside the big ark was a little ark with two of every animal to be re-arranged. The last room had a little climbing area with ropes and nets and bridges. That was their favorite room.


Noah's Ark couldn't be complete without a rainbow! Outside was a big mister system that you could walk through and see all the rainbows. It was a hot day and that was a big hit. All in all, it was great fun and I recommend it to everyone.
