Before and After

The condition of Maylan's room is the biggest source of conflict between her and I. Always. She's a slob and happy that way and I am not. It's gotten much worse since Christmas when she got a bunch of craft-type kits and now her room is covered in paper and beads and stickers and popsicle sticks and pom-poms and glue. This picture doesn't show just how messy it really was.

I've been threatening for a while now to pack up everything and get rid of it if she didn't clean the mess up. I don't understand how she can live like this.

So the other day, while she was at school, I finally did it.

I left her books, her doll Molly and her I-pod and that was about it! It was so satisfying. I even took all the pillows off her bed except for one. And the crazy part: she didn't even care! I told her she can earn her stuff back by memorizing scriptures and she hasn't even bothered.

Hopefully her room will stay like this for a good, long time!
