Back to school...back to school...

Maylan was wishing that today was her third day in third grade because that sounds cooler, but it is indeed the long-awaited first day of school. She had a great teacher in first grade and we were pleasantly surprised to have the same teacher (and basically the same kids) in second grade, too. Imagine our surprise to learn that this year, Mrs. Fahres is also moving up to third grade and guess who's still in her class! Yep, Maylan! I've had lot's of mixed feelings about this, but have finally decided to leave her in this class. Mrs. Fahres requested her specifically and they have a great relationship. I'm still concerned because it is a mixed class, with about 7 or 8 second graders in the class, too, and because Mrs. Fahres has never taught third grade. We'll see how it goes. But, looking back on my life, my third grade year was quite uneventful, and I don't feel like it really impacted me at all. And of course, Maylan was thrilled and couldn't wait to go to school this morning. She must have told me 100 times over the summer that third grade is officially one of the "older" grades in elementary school. As if I needed any more reminders of how old my first born baby is getting. We're so proud of her and hope for a great third grade year!

Cray..she is so cute! I can't believe she has had the same teacher 3 years. Maybe she'll move to 4th. Good point is that she already knows her strenghts and can really build on them.
