Double Digits!

Maylan turned 10! She was worried that this day would never come, but it actually did and she was quite thrilled. Double digits, she says. Kind of a big deal. Her birthday this year was spent going to school (not that much fun, they don't make a real big deal out of birthdays in fifth grade), helping me clean out the nursery closet at the church (somewhat fun), and dinner at PF Changs (not her favorite restaurant, but she was a good sport). There were three things that were a big hit for her this year, though. First, her grandpa took her out for ice cream the night before her birthday. Just the two of them. Second, her presents, and third, her cake.

This year, she wanted mostly clothes, the new Taylor Swift cd, a new chair for her room, a Dippin Dots maker that she saw in an ad somewhere and cash. She got it all and was quite thrilled. Her favorite color is also blue these days, in case you couldn't tell!

And her cake: Made completely to her specifications. She was so impressed with what her mother can do! (And I must say, I was pretty proud of it myself!) Other than a few fondant cracking issues, it turned out perfectly and she (and Marissa) loved it and couldn't stop looking at it all day. Unfortunately, by the time we got home from PF Changs, no one wanted to eat it so it still is sitting on the table. We're leaving for St. George this afternoon and are going to try to take it with us because I'm sure people will want to eat it there! I just hope it survives the drive! Anyway, Happy Birthday Maylan! I hope your day was great even if it wasn't how you planned it! Love you!
