Happy Halloween!

We had our usual Halloween at home, with a yummy barbeque in the garage, followed by some trick or treating and some hanging out with family and the crazy neighbors.

Brandon was a cowboy this year. I got him to put down his gun long enough to pose with his pumpkin.

Maylan was a pioneer. This costume I actually made myself. We had a few scary moments, but in the end it turned out pretty cute.

And Miss Marissa was the cutest little kitty cat I've ever seen!

She very much enjoyed the idea of Halloween this year. While trick or treating, she wouldn't let anyone hold either her or especially her bag. She walked almost as much as the older kids. She would work her way right up to the door, sometimes inside the house, and wait patiently for the person to put candy in her bag. Sometimes she would stop to examine it and sometimes she would just hurry on to the next house. She was quite serious about her trick or treating.

She was also quite serious about her eating once we got back to the house. She would fish something out of her bag, bring it to someone to open it, take a bite, and then go find something else.

As the evening wore on, Maylan decided to get a little creative about handing out treats. She climbed up in the tree and would throw candy down at the trick or treaters. They would scramble to pick it all up off the ground. She thought herself quite hilarious.

And then, right before we were going to clean up for the night, Brandon made a comment about how he wished that he had a scary mask. He and Maylan disappeared inside for a few minutes and returned with Brandon looking like this. Apparently Maylan decided to create a scary mask for him. This would have normally been fine, except for two things: she used her non-washable Mr. Sketch markers and we had church the next day! It took much painful scrubbing in the bathtub for poor Brandon, but we did get most of it off in time for church. Silly kids, silly Halloween, glad it's over for another year!
