New Year's at Knott's

So I know it's kind of late for a New Year's post, but better late than never, right? For Christmas, Ryan's parents generously gave us all passes to Knottsberry Farm. It's been two years since we've been there, but the kids still remembered it all. We went on New Year's Day and had a great time. The best part of it all was that Maylan is now tall enough to go on all but the very biggest of rides! First stop: Ghostrider!
Two years ago, we would have walked right by the historic one-room school house. Not interested in that then. But now, Maylan made a beeline for the school and didn't want to leave. She's fascinated by old schools such as this and is convinced that she would love going to school if she could go to an old-fashioned one-room type school.
The desks and the slates are awfully cute. Maylan couldn't decide if she wanted to be the teacher or the student.

And then we had to pretend to be dead in the old western graveyard. Knottsberry Farm is full of random things like this. Perhaps that's why the kids like it better than Disneyland.
Another reason we love Knotts is that even on New Year's Day, it wasn't crowded at all. Brandon rode this roller coaster three times in a row all by himself (Maylan was off riding "big" rides with daddy). This roller coaster is just Buddy's size and he desires to ride nothing bigger.

"The cars that go zoom" are a little bit special to our family. We started going to Knottsberry Farm when Maylan was about 2 and this was her absolute favorite ride. She would ride over and over again, but sadly this trip, she had no desire to ride the cars that go zoom. She's on to bigger and better rides. Even Brandon only rode it once and didn't seem to care that much. Hopefully Marissa will love them next.

I hung out a lot with Brandon and Marissa while Ryan took Maylan on the big rides. Marissa could ride with us on a lot of things and was so entertained by it all.
