Spring Break!

Our spring break this year was broken into two parts. Part one was a short camping trip with some friends to a fabulous place in the desert just off the 15 freeway: Calico Ghost Town. The kids loved it. We spent the day exploring the restored ghost town, riding the train, walking through the old mines, climbing hills, and looking at all the old things. I didn't take a lot of pictures. Didn't really feel like it for some reason.

The coolest part of our little trip was where we stayed: the Bunkhouse! It was a big room packed with 10 sets of bunkbeds (20 beds total) and they were almost all completely filled.

No one, especially the adults, got a lot of sleep that night, but it sure was fun for the kids. At night, we made a fire and cooked hot dogs and s'mores. The kids ran around and played and jumped on the bed. It was a unique experience for them all and really fun.

After our sleepless night, we packed up and continued north on the 15 freeway to my parents house in St. George for part two of our spring break. My sister was there with her two kids and we had a great time, but again, not very many pictures. We took the kids swimming at this really fun indoor pool.

Everyone enjoyed the first swim of the season, particularly "the biggest waterslide of all!" as Marissa called it. We must have ridden down the waterslide 50 times or so. She loved it.

We also took the kids to visit my brother Ben at his new job at the Fiesta Family Fun Center.

It was raining, but he was still able to get us all on the little Kiddie Cars.

They went a little slow for the older kids, but Marissa enjoyed them. The rest of our trip was spent with me and my sister leaving the kids with Grandma and shopping and lots of eating. We always eat a lot in St. George because there are so many yummy places. So, even though the weather was extremely un-spring break-like, we had a great time!
