Utah Travels

After St. George, we headed north to the coldness of Ogden to see Ryan's brother and their family. Even through the cold, we had a wonderful time and it was fun for our little California kids to get to experience a little winter! We went ice skating one day in an arena that was used for the Olympics, which was really fun, but the highlight for everyone was just playing outside in the snow and sledding! Everyone else had gone skiing for the day, so it was just me and my ski-scared kids left to brave the sledding hills!

Brandon braved the first run of the day and couldn't wait to do it again!

Unlike with the ice skating, Marissa didn't hesitate a bit before heading down the hill. I started her off on the little ones, but it wasn't long before she was begging to go down the big ones like May-May and Buddy. She couldn't get enough!

Someone had built a little jump that of course we had to try out. I don't know if our technique is off or something, but they each only did that once because the landing hurt a little!

Almost every time she went down a hill, Marissa would crash hard at the bottom, rolling off her sled into the snow. Every time, she would come up grinning and ready to do it again!

And a bit of exhaustion after the first hour of sledding. They didn't stop there, though. Marissa and I went inside to warm up but Maylan and Brandon were out for a lot longer. They both wish we lived somewhere that it snowed and I have to admit it was nice to play in. A little too cold and troublesome for my taste, but a good way to spend a few days to finish out our Christmas vacation!
